The Power of Discernment in Social Justice Advocacy

There is a growing trend of calling immigration detention centers “concentration camps.” While these facilities deserve serious scrutiny and accountability, comparing them to the camps of Nazi Germany or Stalinist regimes is not moral clarity. It is distortion. Actual concentration camps were designed for mass political imprisonment, forced labor, systemic torture, and extermination. They were tools of totalitarian control and ethnic cleansing. To collapse that history into modern political rhetoric erases scale, intent, and consequence. This is not about defending any particular policy. It is about defending truth. Criticism is valid when it is honest. When it relies on exaggerated comparisons to inflame emotion, it becomes propaganda, not justice. Discernment allows us to confront real injustice without falsifying it. That is the line between outrage and integrity. If we want to honor the past and protect the vulnerable, we must speak with precision, not performance. #Discernment #TruthMatters #MoralIntegrity #HistoryDeservesHonesty
