The Benefits of Meditative Movement Practices: Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qigong

Meditative Movement Practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qigong have both physical and meditative aspects that can be beneficial for general wellness and specific health issues.

Yoga originated in India, and there are many forms to suit different needs. It may provide relief from back and neck pain, menopause symptoms, anxiety or depression.

Tai Chi has its roots in martial arts in China, and is an effective way to improve balance in older adults and alleviate conditions such as low-back pain, fibromyalgia, or knee osteoarthritis.

Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice with various forms available; although it hasn't been studied as much as the other two practices, research suggests it can prevent falls and ease symptoms of conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or Parkinson’s disease.

By engaging in these meditative movement practices you could experience physical benefits while also providing a much needed mental break from the stress of everyday life.
