It’s one thing to be passionate. It’s another to throw around terms like “traitor” and “concentration camp” without discernment. These words carry real weight, historical, moral, and emotional, and using them carelessly doesn’t make your case stronger. It weakens it.
If we want to hold power accountable, we must raise our standard, not lower it to match the outrage we oppose. Condemnation without clarity is just noise, and noise doesn’t build justice.
Discernment means recognizing when language is being used to illuminate versus when it’s being used to inflame. Truth doesn’t need exaggeration. It needs courage, precision, and integrity. Let’s not lose that in the volume.
