Cultivating Discernment in Political Discourse

Cultivating Discernment in Political Discourse

Too often, political debates get reduced to shouting matches filled with labels, “fascist,” “socialist,” “communist,” “traitor.” But when every disagreement becomes a crisis and every opponent becomes a monster, we lose our ability to think clearly, act wisely, and unite around real solutions. Words matter. If we’re serious about protecting democracy, we can’t afford to dull our moral vocabulary by misusing it. Fascism, authoritarianism, and oppression are real, and they deserve to be named when warranted. But weaponizing those terms to score points or silence dissent only undermines their meaning. Discernment means resisting the temptation to exaggerate and staying anchored in truth. Not every policy you dislike is tyranny. Not every critic is your enemy. When everything becomes fascism, nothing does. #Discernment #TruthOverTribe #PoliticalIntegrity #HolisticUnited
