In a world flooded with opinions, outrage, and tribal noise, discernment has never been more essential.
Discernment means stepping back from emotional reactivity and ideology long enough to see what’s actually true. It asks us to move past assumptions and surface-level judgments and engage with deeper clarity, factually, contextually, and consciously.
According to David R. Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness, discernment lives in the levels above the critical threshold of truth (200) and flows between Neutrality, Reason, Courage, and even Love. It’s not passive or indifferent. It’s present, grounded, and alert. It sees without the need to control.
Without discernment, we confuse outrage for truth, mistake confidence for credibility, and let emotions overrule evidence. With it, we pause before reacting, ask better questions, and create space for growth.
This isn’t just a spiritual practice. It’s a survival skill, for our minds, our communities, and our future.
Because how we see is just as important as what we say.
