The tweets in this image say it all. People celebrating floods and suffering in Texas, not because of anything the victims did, but because of how they vote. This isn’t justice. It’s cruelty masked as moral superiority.
Empathy that vanishes when someone is on the “wrong side” politically isn’t empathy at all. It’s tribalism dressed up as virtue. You don’t have to agree with a governor to care when people lose their homes. You don’t have to like someone’s politics to hope they survive a disaster.
If your compassion stops where your ideology starts, it was never compassion. It was just control.
