Choosing Wellness: The Case for Thoughtful Travel

Someone posted proudly that they canceled all family trips to Disney World in Florida and rerouted everyone to Mexico instead, calling Florida “Alligator Alcatraz” and claiming Mexico “deserves our gratitude and business.” That level of moral posturing might feel bold, but boycotting an entire state based on a headline or slogan doesn’t show discernment, it shows performative outrage. It’s one thing to oppose policy. It’s another to punish an entire population based on a simplified narrative, all while claiming moral high ground. If you care about justice, start by getting the facts straight. Blanket condemnations may feel powerful, but they often collapse under scrutiny. Real discernment doesn’t just react. It investigates. It differentiates. It honors truth above tribal signaling. Because at the end of the day, moral clarity isn’t about where you spend your vacation, it’s about whether you’re willing to look deeper before making declarations in the first place.
