We don’t defend truth by becoming the distortion we oppose.
If we say people should be judged by the content of their character, then that has to apply across the board, not just to our opponents. Reducing an entire group to a stereotype, even out of frustration, doesn’t elevate the conversation. It drags it further into tribalism.
Discernment means we can call out harmful actions without dehumanizing those we disagree with. Truth doesn’t need mockery. It needs clarity, courage, and consistency.
